Anson County's newest housing complex, the Abbington Grove apartments in Wadesboro, will be ready for residents to move in by the first of the year. Approximately half of the 48 units will be ready for occupancy in January with the remainder ready in March. Thirty-two will be two-bedroom units and and 16 will be three-bedroom units.
“We’re really excited to be there, and we’ve gotten a really good turnout so far,” site manager Rene Kennedy commented. “We had over 100 applications turned in and are going through the process to try and fill these up.”
Tenants will sign a 12-month lease. The entire property is smoke-free. Utilities are not included.
The complex includes a clubhouse, workout room, computer room and a community kitchen area in the clubhouse. There is also a grilling area with a covered gazebo, a playground and a laundry room, though apartments will also have laundry hookups, Kennedy said.
Despite the upscale amenities, the apartments are targeted toward working families; modest-income workers and young professionals who are just getting a foothold in the working world and might not yet have the resources to buy a home of their own.
Kennedy added that pets will not be allowed, unless the tenant has paperwork from a physician stating that the pet is needed to assist with a disability.
The apartments are located at 1265 U.S. Highway 74, Wadesboro.
