From the Director; Closing the Book on 2018

When the book is closed, 2018 will likely be seen as a pivotal year in the developing success story of Anson County. From the much-anticipated opening of the Monroe Expressway to historically low unemployment to several nice recruiting and expansion wins, the county arguably saw its best year for economic development in recent memory.   The big recruiting wins were Catawba Biogas, an alternative energy company that is building a natural gas plant near the Pee Dee Electric facility east of Lilesville, and Four Branches Sporting Clays, an outdoor recreation venue which is nearing completion in Polkton. Catawba’s investment of $15 million is one of the largest announced in the county in the last decade, while the two projects together will create 25 new jobs for Anson County residents. Will 2019 Be The Year Of Small Business In Anson County?

Over the past few weeks there has been some healthy discussion about what organizations like AnsonEDP do to assist small businesses. The Enterprise grant similarly matches 10% of the Thread Capital loan, up to $5,000 for enterprises that have been in business for more than 2 years and are looki...

Anson Economic Developer Leaving To Join Regional Group

Anson Economic Development Partnership (AnsonEDP) is proud to announce that Megan Sellers is leaving the organization to accept a position with North Carolina’s Southeast (NCSE), the 18-county regional economic development group based in Elizabethtown (NC) of which Anson is a member. She will assume the position of Marketing Project Manager with NCSE, effective February 1st.  In an innovative dual role, Sellers has been the Existing Industry Coordinator for AnsonEDP and the Membership Director for the Anson County Chamber of Commerce since December of 2016. “We are obviously sorry to see Megan go,” said AnsonEDP Executive Director John Marek, “but we understand and support her desire to move into a position of greater responsibility with NCSE. She is extremely bright and talented, and in our small shop there’s no room for someone of her ability to grow at the pace she deserves.” Prior to joining AnsonEDP in 2016, Sellers worked for the Anson County Partnership for Childr...
