Anson Economic Developer Leaving To Join Regional Group

Anson Economic Development Partnership (AnsonEDP) is proud to announce that Megan Sellers is leaving the organization to accept a position with North Carolina’s Southeast (NCSE), the 18-county regional economic development group based in Elizabethtown (NC) of which Anson is a member. She will assume the position of Marketing Project Manager with NCSE, effective February 1st.

In an innovative dual role, Sellers has been the Existing Industry Coordinator for AnsonEDP and the Membership Director for the Anson County Chamber of Commerce since December of 2016. “We are obviously sorry to see Megan go,” said AnsonEDP Executive Director John Marek, “but we understand and support her desire to move into a position of greater responsibility with NCSE. She is extremely bright and talented, and in our small shop there’s no room for someone of her ability to grow at the pace she deserves.”

Prior to joining AnsonEDP in 2016, Sellers worked for the Anson County Partnership for Children and a Monroe (NC) optician’s office.

AnsonEDP and the Anson County Chamber of Commerce will begin the search for a replacement after the first of the year. “When we hired Megan, we weren’t entirely sure how the partnership between the Chamber and economic development would play out or exactly what kind of employee we needed,” said Chamber President and CEO Shelby Emrich. “It turned out that we hired an extraordinary individual who has contributed immensely to both organizations and helped define the position. With that experience under our belts, we believe we have a really good idea of the skill set we need. Megan’s shoes will be hard to fill, but we know there are capable people out there.”
